The Division of Finance & Administration at the State University of New York at Oneonta is seeking a Director of Finance.
The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical skills, the ability to think strategically, excellent communications skills, exceptional Excel proficiency and strong interpersonal and leadership abilities.
The Director of Finance will report to the Associate Vice President of Finance & Administration and will be part of a collaborative team within the division charged with university financial planning and strategy development.
The functions of the position will include: conducting complex financial analyses; gathering, analyzing, interpreting, and organizing data from various financial systems into useable information and presenting to various constituents for decision making purposes; ensuring thorough, accurate and efficient reconciliation processes exist to support accurate and informative financial reporting, projections, and recommendations.
The Director of Finance will prepare financial statements, reconcile multipart programs and processes, develop, and maintain ad-hoc reports, implement efficiencies, and process improvements, and oversee the revenue accounting function.

Responsibilities and areas of focus include: Perform complex and comprehensive financial and project-based analyses Provide/prepare information extracted from various complex and interconnected financial systems for presentation to senior administration to support strategic planning and decision making Assist with multi-year revenue projections to aid in the development of multi-year financial plans and strategies Analyze finance/business-related operations & leverage multiple financial systems to identify efficiencies and process improvements Design and deliver informative presentations; effectively communicating complex ideas and concepts in a clear and concise manner to non-financial audiences Improve, develop, recommend, and implement accounting/finance and business-related policies and procedures Prepare various internal and external University financial reports Work with SUNY System Administration to implement new accounting standards, procedures, and systems Research, analyze and resolve complex accounting issues, often used to determine best practices Provide leadership and oversight of the Accounting Office; ensuring revenue, cash flow/cash balances, fund balances, expenditures and related transactions are managed accurately while adhering to Federal, State, SUNY and local policies Maintain an effective control environment to safeguard university assets Salary: $82,000 - 85,000- commensurate with experience.

Job Requirements: Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in business or finance related degree.
6+ years of financial analysis-related or business experience in progressively responsible positions.
6+ years of experience working in financial systems and databases.
Proven ability to communicate financial data to non-financial audiences.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and ability to perform high-level data analysis.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in accounting.
Experience working in Higher Education Finance - Specifically SUNY.
Experience working with Ellucian Banner, ARGOS, SUNY FMS and SUNY BI.
Experience working with and serving diverse populations.
