What is Job Corps? Job Corps is the country's most extensive nationwide residential career training program and has been operating for over 50 years.
The program helps eligible young people ages 16 through 24, complete their high school education, trains them for meaningful careers, and assists them with obtaining employment.

Oneonta Job Corps offers training in the medical trades (Certified Nursing Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant, and Medical Administrative Assistant), Automobile trades (Auto Body and Auto Technician), Construction Trades (Tile Setting, Cement Mason, and Electrical), and our advanced trades (Overhead Line, Rural Underground Distribution, SMART Meter, and our Drone Program).
As an Auto Trade Instructor, you will: Provide coaching, technical expertise, and encouragement to the students while allowing them structured opportunities to develop their own proficiency.
Establish and maintain effective relationships and rapport with students, other staff, and community members to ensure that trusting and respectful relationships are built.
Ensure standards and goals are met in a given timeframe.
Assist students in realizing their potential, abilities, and goals by providing, organizing, and delivering class objectives in a clear, concise, orderly manner.
Maintain an orderly, controlled, and safe working/learning environment for the students.
Ensure training aids, tools, and equipment are maintained and prepared for use in the classroom and lab.
Supervise and hold students accountable for their actions and learning.
Maintain curriculum accuracy by staying up-to-date on industry changes, trends, etc.
Conduct yourself professionally and accept nothing less from the students.
Promote the students learning, participation, personal accountability, integrity, having a good work ethic, etc.
Evaluate and communicate performance and progress with the students, supervisors, and other departments as necessary, in a timely fashion, and accurate manner.

We are looking for someone who has: Excellent communication skills both verbal and written Effective presentation skills Excellent Planning and problem-solving skills Ability to Multi-Task Can adapt to a changing fast-paced environment A motivated professional with, a positive attitude Technical abilities Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, databases, etc.
Educational/Certification Requirements: Our program is accredited in Maintenance/Light Repair through the ASE Education Foundation.
All instructors must have the following ASE certifications or be able to obtain them within the first 60 days of employment.
A4: Suspension and Steering A5: Brakes A6: Electrical/Electronic Systems G1: Auto Maintenance & Light Repair Experience with AC Delco and S/P2 Training is preferred, but not required.
Required Abilities: Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds for short periods during the workday Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl for very short periods during the workday Must be able to talk, see, hear, concentrate, think, learn, and reason for all of the workday Must be able to sit and walk or otherwise move around for prolonged periods throughout the workday.
Must be able to use a keyboard and do manual tasks for prolonged periods throughout the workday.
Work Environment: Work is performed primarily indoors often in a climate-controlled environment.
Work is performed near or with moving mechanical parts Short periods of limited exposure to non-hazardous levels of fumes or airborne particles.
